Actually it is believed that the name tattoo, which in the Tahitian language means to “mark”, was borne when the European explorers crossed the Pacific Ocean, they traveled to Tahiti, where many of its people had exquisite tattoos.

Gradually with the flowing time tattoos that represent some mythology or some important purpose were given new form and ideas. Slowly and steadily it started entering into the mainstream of fashion.

Chinese and Japanese tattoos artist has expertise themselves in this field and their body art have become very well known for their artistic beauty and flair. Even the Chinese and Japanese Calligraphies are said to be the most exotic and mysterious, which heightens the desire for these beautiful symbols on the body.

The tattoo of many African culture and tribes has been displayed several times on the covers and pages of National Geographic and other highly revered magazines. It is said that tattooing was practice with some sharp objects, which is as painful to watch, as it is painful to experience. It is also said that tattooing was compulsory for many tribes and the person who did not followed it were forbidden to participate in any religious ceremony. But today with modern technique and hygienic practice tattooing is safe but the fear factor still remains until and unless there is a complete healing.

For many it is just a fashion statement while for many tattoos have a special meaning and have gained a new understanding and acceptance. Therefore it should be remembered that tattooing requires proper research since it is a permanent mark that you are going to have on your body and a mark that is meaningless is useless. Besides a particular tattoo displays a lot of message about you that will create certain impression about you that may be good or bad depending on the tattoo that you have on your body.
