The first step in getting a tattoo is choosing a design. For first timers, the most common choice is a flower. Its association with beauty is the reason behind its universal appeal, especially for women.

Nowadays, one can stylized or update a flower tattoo design in various ways. The increasing appreciation of tattoo as a form of art has brought about a wider range of flower designs. The most popular of this is the tribal flower design.

Each kind of flower is chosen for its specific meaning. For example, a cherry blossom signifies spiritual beauty, calla lily means maiden modesty and hibiscus is delicate beauty. To enhance its significance, you can combine it with a tribal design.

Tribal design is mostly done in black or red ink. If you choose to have the flower done in vivid colors, the tribal color makes a stunning contrast on the art work. It is not as easy for an artist to do tribal flower tattoos. The intricate tribal pattern should be done correctly. The ink should be applied evenly. And the flower should be shaded properly to stand out.

Flower designs are done in delicately beautiful strokes, while tribal designs are mostly angled. Tribal flower tattoos have become fashionable for women. It is commonly done on the lower back, ankle and wrist. The tribal design emphasizes the significance of the flower on the chosen for the art.

The combination makes tribal flower tattoo popular choice among men as well. The tribal detailing creates a masculine impact in an otherwise feminine design. Men would usually choose just one color, though.

The internet offers a variety of options should you decide to go for a tribal flower tattoo. The meaning of each design is also readily available online, making it easier for you to work on your tattoo concept. Be sure to only use it as a reference, though. It is still important to revise the tattoo into a personalized art work.

You have to check on the significance of the flower and the tribal design you want done.

Designs of tribal flower tattoos transcend gender. It can function as a feminine body art. At the same time, the tribal pattern brings a masculine impact should a man decide to have this art work done on him. Combining the delicate flower design with the intricate tribal pattern made this tattoo one the most popular designs.

If you are looking to get your first or your hundredth tattoo then this guide is for you. You will find numerous tips and advice designed to help you make the right choice. My philosophy is simple: it’s ok to have a tattoo “just because it looks great”, but for something that is a lifelong commitment, then I suggest you look for something with a deeper meaning or message. Remember, behind every great tattoo lies a great story.

In the last 20 years we have seen the move of tattoos from the fringe dwellers to mainstream society. Of course, the obvious reason is imitating your favourite pop star or actor. Just think how many people saw tattoos in a different light after David Beckham, Pink and Angeline Jolie got inked.

Also, stats now indicate that women outnumber men when it comes to getting inked. Many women have also become successful tattooist, which has brought about a marked improvement.

The competition between tattooist for your dollar is fierce, and with the worldwide economy struggling, and because tattoo design has evolved to be regarded as an art form and tattooist have become highly skilled artists who are not just doing their apprenticeship at a parlour but are coming out of universities with visual art degrees, there is no better time than now to get tattooed.

So, what you have to decide is the reason for getting your first or next tattoo. Do you want something to show your independence, individuality, or perhaps in remembrance of a special occasion such as birth or death of a loved one? If you want my advice don’t rush into it, understand your tattoo is a lifelong commitment, and not a gift you can easily return. Yes, you can paint over an existing design or have it removed altogether, either way you will feel the pain in your wallet, long after the scarring has healed.

I know from experience that it can be intimidating and stressful finding the right design at a tattoo parlour. For my first tattoo I was persuaded to change my mind on a design and now I’m going through the process of a cover up.

What I suggest is you check-out my site where you will find a number of articles on my favourite tattoos. For instance, you will be able to read a brief history on tribal, dragon, Japanese, Chinese, tattoo sleeves, tattoos for women, and many more, as well as the best sites to find your favourite tattoo design.

For a women to be tattooed on the lower back it is a deeply sensual and spiritual rite to passage, the ultimate in self exploration and expressionism.

Our tattoos can have many meanings to us, they can be marks of status and rank, symbols of religious and spiritual devotion, decorations for bravery, sexual lures and marks of fertility, pledges of love, punishment, amulets and talismans, protection, and as the marks of outcasts, slaves and convicts. The symbolism and impact of tattoos varies in different places and cultures.

The design of the tattoo should fit perfectly to the curves of the female lower back and natural curves of her hips. The lower back tattoo helps to accentuate an already breathtaking part of the female anatomy and enhance an area that is well known for its sensuality.

It is worth spending quite some time researching tattoo designs in order to discover designs with some level of uniqueness. The best solution is to just avoid the lower back tattoo category all together and look for alternative and less used designs like Japanese designs or koi fish designs.

1. Changes in interests

Tattoos usually represent a person’s interests at a certain point. These interests eventually lose importance to the person and so do the tattoos. People may simply want to remove tattoos because they are not unique any more. Some people remove them for having lost the appreciation of the art value of it.

2. To sever ties with a previous life period

People who get tattoos are usually in a certain period of life that makes them want to have a permanent reminder of the good times. The first method that comes up is to have a permanent adornment which a tattoo is a perfect example of. As the period of life the tattoo was made comes to an end, people start to think of ways to do away with the reminders of the period. The most common reason for it removal is after a break-up.

3. To replace a tattoo with another one

This is a common reason for wanting to remove a tattoo. A person might have had a change in weight, which makes it look nothing like what it used to. People may also want to remove it to replace them with more fashionable ones.

4. To end an affiliation with a certain group

Certain groups usually have some kind of mark to identify the members of the groups. Tattoos are a preferred mark for some groups. When members of these groups leave, they would naturally find a way to remove the group’s sign from their skin.

5. Business obligations

Anybody in the business world with a clearly visible tattoo is considered to be somewhat of a joker. This thing therefore negatively affects a person’s influence in matters relating to business. The only available options are to get a new job or do away with it. Needless to say, nobody ever chooses a tattoo over a job!

6. Social stigma and impression management

Many people with tattoos eventually start to be uncomfortable when negative criticism is directed at them because they have this thing. After having a tattoo for some time, a person may feel that the tattoo no longer enhances their body image. It may also make others judge you more harshly based on their first impression after seeing your tattoo.

Some people get stuck with tattoos that are not very attractive and then they end up paying a lot of money to get them removed, and some just can not afford to get them removed. Make sure that the design you pick really means something to you. Maori designs may have just what you are looking for.

The majority of Maori artists that come from centuries back, have made many of their art works based on the design of nature. They were sincerely inspired by the artistic designs that nature had to offer them. Their form was more of an abstract type of art than you would expect. They would also display different kinds of symbols in their art work. Tie all of this together and you can get some of the most beautiful art that would nearly speak to you in song as you gazed upon it.

Maori design tattoos are a type of Polynesian tattoo art coming from Eastern Polynesia. These tattoos have a lot of different curved shapes that form their designs. They also use a lot of spirals in their tattoo designs, because they are literally based on the curve of a spiral. Traditionally, the ancient people would permanently decorate their entire faces with these beautiful spirals. They also took a more painful way of tattooing, they would chisel their designs into their faces which is much different than the methods that we use today.

These tattoos were actually called by a different name than what we now call them, they were called Ta moko. ” Ta” translates to the meaning of striking or tapping. It basically defines the traditional manner in which they would give tattoos. “Moko” translates to describe the finished design as a whole piece. The face was not always the place to put these, just the most common of the Maori people who lived in the colder climates.

For the most part the Maori tattoo designs have stayed the same no matter what part of the world the happen to appear in. Some cultures have made a few slight changes over the years, but none of the changes have been drastic enough to literally change the design and the name of the design. Even in the American tattoo culture the Maori tattooing has made a come back, and in some areas these tattoos are even being done in the traditional chiseling manner. These have proven to be some of the most attractive tattoos no matter which ones you see. Their appearance induces an almost nostalgic feeling in the mind of the person who is viewing them. Maori tattoo designs are making a come back in today’s culture.

The designs of sleeve tattoos are very intricate and complicated. Usually, they are colourful and depict several images with some unusual designs or patterns. These are popular among boys, especially those who belong in a rock band. But these days, you will see many girls sporting sleeve tattoos on their arms or legs.

If you are also planning to get a sleeve tattoo for yourself, here are some popular sleeve tattoo ideas.

If you are into Japanese culture, you can combine different popular Japanese tattoos for your sleeve tattoo such as cherry blossoms, kanji or Japanese characters, koi fish, and samurai designs. Old Japanese culture includes ancient tattooing. And what better way to bring that culture back to life than by using Japanese designs for your tattoo.

For females who want to have sleeve tattoos, floral design is a great sleeve tattoo idea. Different styles and patterns of flowers interwoven with leaves and twines can be a very interesting sleeve tattoo design. Flower sleeve tattoos also give you a chance to use bright colors for the flowers. Some nice flower tattoos that you can use for your sleeve tattoos are hibiscus and roses. For the rose tattoo, this can be both feminine and masculine, depending on how it was drawn.

Celtic tattoos usually feature knotworks that are very intricate and detailed. This knotwork covers one whole arm or leg. Some artists can draw animal tattoos using these knotworks. Celtic tattoos usually come in one color but it is up to you if you like to have a colourful celtic tattoo.

One of the most popular sleeve tattoo ideas, especially among young men, is the tribal tattoo. Heavy black lines are one of the most obvious features of a tribal tattoo. The color of the tattoo is black and if you used a colored ink instead, it might seem a little different.

As you probably know, these tattoos are large and their designs or patterns are very complicated. You have to know that the larger and more complicated the tattoo is, the more expensive it will be. You also have to know that a popular artist will more likely ask you for a higher payment.

Do not rush the tattoo artist in finishing his or her job. You should know that drawing a sleeve tattoo is a difficult task to make and may even take several days to finish. You need to go back to the tattoo shop for several sessions.

Sleeve tattoos are nice to have especially if you like the big kind of tattoos that cover one big portion of your arms or legs. However, you should choose carefully which design you want to have for your sleeve tattoo because it cannot be easily hidden if for some reasons you do not like it.

Many people still choose to believe in the benevolent force of angels. As the ultimate sign of respect to this guardian, they may even elect to have a piece of body art dedicated to them.

It’s not just women who turn to angel tattoos, this style of ink is equally popular with men as well. These pieces can either be tailored to look very delicate and feminine or a more menacing and mischievous side can be reflected in the character and appearance of the angel, to make it more appealing to the guys.

People seem to be plugging for two different types of angels: you will either see the angel in its entirety or it is increasingly popular to see just the intricate details of the angel’s wings applied in the form of an eye-catching tattoo.

With this genre of tattoo, you can choose to incorporate plenty of colors and detailed fine line work, or black and grey work will look extremely effective and add an eerie and realistic dimension to the piece.

Women seem to prefer the elegant and colorful pieces and an angel will always look great when applied to the top of the shoulder. To add a little more mysticism to the piece, why not add a few stars to the tattoo and have these done in a myriad different shades?

If you prefer the black and grey shading, they come in any size you choose. In fact, it is not uncommon today to see such pieces as the central feature of a complete sleeve. If it’s the wing-effect that appeals to you, they will always look best placed on the back and shoulders; for slightly smaller wings, they will work well on the back of the neck.

Whatever an individual’s belief in angels, this style of design remains popular as a tattoo vogue. Angels will always grab attention and really do make for some of the most awe-inspiring design choices around.

You can walk into a tattoo parlor anywhere in the world, and find their version of crosses, and volumes of traditional tattoo crosses. His symbol has been popular since the Teutonic Period, of the 14th Century, when Knights carried the symbol as a banner of their courage and the kingdoms they served. The crosses can be in the shape of the traditional Iron Cross which first held the symbolic image for bravery and loyalty for Knights, this version of crosses features a shorter set of cross bars and is distinguishable from the Holy Cross by its wider base on each end.

The modern version of the Iron Cross with its mixture of swords, knives, and barbwire, is a popular choice of crosses among those who claim the title of Goth.

For Christians who believe that the symbol of wearing them as a means of stating their faithfulness, there are two popular designs.
